Tips from the Internet – GREAT BEND TRIBUNE

Every now and then, I discover tips online on how to do this and that. I hope I have some gems here for you.

Lint rollers. I didn’t have one. I had one, and it was long gone. Now I own four because when I read these tips, I went to the dollar store to find them. I couldn’t wait. I bought two small and two large rollers.

It all started when I was cleaning out my kitchen utensil drawers last week. The silverware drawer has crumbs in the corners. I was busy wiping them off the spacers and realized I should use my little hand broom. However, I was too lazy to find it. So, I washed and wiped.

I read on one of the readers’ summary pages online that little lint rollers were great for cleaning crumbs from kitchen drawers. Thank God! Lint rollers can also pick up industry debris, such as glitter. The cylinder can remove dust from the lampshade. Running the roller inside a bag, diaper bag, gym bag, or backpack can clean up the gritty debris that collects there. This sticky little thing can clean car crevices, cut broken glass, and can pick up crumbs under sofa cushions and even under sofas. Find a little mess and clean it up satisfying! Kind of like squeezing a greasy pimple!

I immediately called my sister-in-law, Heloise Housekeeping, to share my new discoveries. Of course, she already knew lint rollers! She owns a cat and I never see hair on anything. You keep one in most areas of the house. Boy, do I feel silly thinking I could show her something about housekeeping.

Dishwasher Tablets: I couldn’t wait to try this one. If you don’t use dishwasher tablets to clean the oven window, this will convince you to get started. truly? I didn’t worry about my oven window, but maybe there’s something here to try?

The advice is to use Finish-brand tablets with deep cleaning. Whichever brand you use, buy pressed powder tablets, not 1 gel capsules. Dip the capsule in warm water.

2. Put it in water long enough to absorb a little, but not so long that it starts to break down.

3. Use the tablet to scrub, no sponge needed.

4. Lay the tablet flat, and use your palm to move the tablet in a circular motion to remove stains. If the tablet begins to dry, dip it in warm water again. This procedure is also effective on the metal part surrounding the oven door. Done, wipe off any residue with a damp cloth.

Now I can invite friends and show them my clean oven window!

Aluminum Ball: Squeeze a sheet of aluminum foil into a ball and place it in your dishwasher baskets. Run the dishwasher with aluminum foil inside the basket. After the cycle is over, you will notice that your silverware is much shinier than usual. I found that the aluminum foil lasted for a couple of washes.

Here’s another opportunity to invite guests and offer them a piece of pie to watch them notice my shiny fork.

It’s what one does to entertain oneself when they desperately need to get outside, and it’s cold and windy.

And now for another Peggy. ready?

WRAP THE TWISTS ON BREAD: Learn what the Twist Bands on Bread Bags mean. You can tell how cooked bread is if you know the signs. Bakers have Wednesdays and Sundays off, so if you want fresh bread, you might avoid buying on those days. Mondays are blue, Tuesdays green, Thursdays red, Fridays white, and Saturdays yellow. The colors are arranged alphabetically by days of the week.

For me, I buy cheap. If the bread is a day old and specified, I buy it. I also make my own sourdough bread, so I buy very little. But on my next visit to the grocery store, I’ll be looking at bread when no one is looking.

These are my hot tips. I hope you got something out of this.
