Gigabit Pro uses enterprise-grade, fiber-based Ethernet technology to enable Xfinity Internet customers to receive identical multi-Gigabit speeds so they can stream or play in 4K in multiple rooms in the house.

“The faster speeds will give Xfinity customers additional capacity to power all of their WiFi-connected devices at home,” said Kevin Casey, President of Comcast Northeast. “Through our smart, fast and reliable fiber-dense network, continuous innovation and our people, we offer our customers unparalleled internet with the best connectivity, advanced cyber security, faster speeds and the best available technology.”

The speed increases come on the heels of Comcast’s WiFi Trends 2021 report, published in February 2022, which shared key findings detailing why WiFi is such an integral part of Americans, as the number of devices connected to WiFi has increased 12-fold since 2018 as the number of devices connected to WiFi has increased 12-fold since 2018. Xfinity families connected nearly 1 billion devices in 2021.

In addition to offering the fastest speeds, Comcast provides an unbeatable internet experience:

  • Super WiFi Coverage – WiFi coverage with the new advanced xFi Gateway that supports WiFi 6E and can deliver speeds faster than the gig, and xFi Pods that together create a mesh network that extends WiFi throughout the home; Xfinity Internet customers have purchased over 1 million xFi Pods over the past 3 years to ensure stronger WiFi coverage;

  • Connected device control With the Xfinity app, customers who rent the xFi gateway have complete control over their home network; It can manage device access, set parental controls, and pause WiFi; In 2021, more than 1 million Xfinity households used xFi parental controls, with customers pausing/unpausing WiFi nearly 100 million times;

  • Advanced Cyber Security Protection – xFi Advanced Security, included at no additional cost, helps protect all connected devices at the gateway level from malware and billions of cyberthreats each year;

  • 4K streaming device with voice search – Xfinity Flex, the award-winning 4K streaming device with audio remote control to seamlessly watch and search for content from Xfinity Stream, Peacock, Netflix, Hulu, Prime and other popular streaming services available to Xfinity Internet customers;

  • Xfinity Mobile – Xfinity Internet customers can get Xfinity Mobile, which combines the best 5G network in the country with the ability to automatically connect to millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country; Starting at $45 per line, the lowest entry price for unlimited 5G data on the market, Xfinity Mobile unlimited pricing is $80 for two lines, $100 for three lines and $120 for four lines ($30 per line);

Xfinity Internet is delivered using Comcast’s existing network infrastructure and connections already in most customers’ homes – no street, sidewalk or yard excavation required. In the past five years (2017-2021), we have invested nearly $20 billion to develop and grow our network. From 2017 to 2021, we built 50,000 new fiber optic miles into our network and doubled our network capacity every 2.5 years to stay ahead of demand.

Higher speeds will be rolled out over the coming weeks. Once available, customers may need to “cycle” their devices to receive speeds. Some may need to upgrade their devices to receive the increased speeds, and those with incompatible devices will be contacted with opportunities to update their devices. Customers who rent the Xfinity Gateway and need new equipment will be upgraded at no additional cost. For customers who want to purchase their own modem, information about compatible devices can be found online.
