Apple March 2022 event: New Mac Studio desktop computer, iPad Air and iPhone SE revealed | Latest news and updates

An announcement from Apple has pushed the tech world into a state of obscurity, as gadget enthusiasts vie for an entirely new product.

Apple announced a new “game-changing” product during the tech giant’s first major event in 2022.

The Peek Performance March event took place early Wednesday morning Australian time, with CEO Tim Cook unveiling a series of new innovations.

But something that has caught the attention of tech enthusiasts around the world is a new desktop PC, the “game-changing” Mac Studio, which has been described as bringing “unprecedented” performance to “amazing new heights”.

The ad caused an instant stir on social media, with tech addicts sharing their excitement on Twitter — some of them mocking the cube’s unique design.

In short, the Mac Studio – the first new Mac model to be revealed in years – includes both Apple’s M1 Max chip as well as a new, more powerful M1 Ultra chip.

The company describes Mac Studio as faster than the Mac Pro, and it promises to work quietly no matter what your workload is.

The new Studio Display was also announced, and according to Apple, “Mac Studio and Studio Display together turn any workspace into a creative force.”

It comes with four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10Gb Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI, an audio jack, and supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Mac Studio with the M1 Max will be up to 50 percent faster than the Mac Pro, and the new computer is specifically aimed at studio use for those who create things like music, design and videos.

It can support up to four Pro Display XDR displays and a 4K TV and can be pre-ordered today, and will be available from March 18th.

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce an all-new Mac desktop and display with Mac Studio and Studio Display,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing.

Mac Studio heralds a new era of the desktop with stunning performance powered by the M1 Max and M1 Ultra, an array of connectivity and a compact design that puts everything users need within easy reach.

“And the studio monitor – with its stunning Retina 5K display, along with the best combination of camera and sound ever in a desktop screen – is in a class of its own.”

But it’s not cheap, with prices starting at $3,999 (A$5497) for a Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra.

That high price point struck a chord with some tech followers, with Denmark-based author Thomas Baekdahl accusing the company of becoming “a game for the rich only”.

But others weren’t worried about the price, as countless social media users were begging Apple to take their hard-earned cash.

New budget iPhone

Apple also revealed a few other innovations, including an additional Friday night baseball game to the Apple TV+ and iPad Air with the M1 chip and 5G support.

But the ad that attracted the most attention besides the Mac Studio was a new iPhone that would cost about half as much as the other models, starting at the $A719.

The new iPhone SE 3 – the third generation of the Apple SE range – is more budget-friendly than other iPhones and will replace the 2020 model, and will come with 5G and a 12-megapixel camera.

This means a smaller screen compared to other iPhones, as well as fewer cameras, but most other features will be the same, including “the same extremely powerful A15 Bionicchip found in the iPhone 13”.

It will be available from March 18, with pre-orders open from March 12.

Apple also unveiled the “high-end alpine green iPhone 13 Pro” and the green iPhone 13.

According to Apple, the iPhone 13 lineup “features sleeker, more durable designs with the Ceramic Shield front cover, and includes the cutting-edge A15 Bionic chip, advanced 5G experience, advanced camera systems for stunning photos and videos, and a massive leap in battery life.”

“People love the design of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13, and we’re excited to reveal the stunning green and alpine green finishes, which join the wide range of beautiful colors in the iPhone 13 lineup,” said Bob Purchers, Apple’s vice president of Global Product Marketing.

“These new colors give customers more choices when choosing their iPhone, and we can’t wait for them to take advantage of all the iPhone 13 lineup has to offer, including unparalleled performance with the A15 Bionic, our best-of-breed camera systems, and massive improvements to battery life that meets needs. daily life, fast 5G, incredible durability and more.”

Big Apple Tease

And if that wasn’t enough for you, Apple also introduced a new Mac Pro – but said that announcement should wait for a future event.

“There is another product available to use: the Mac Pro. But that’s for another day,” said John Ternus, Apple’s chief hardware officer.

“We look forward to seeing what our users will do with all these amazing products and the impact they will have on people’s lives,” Tim Cook said of the new announcements.
