T-Mobile is the fastest carrier for your Galaxy S22 Ultra phone with the fastest downloads

T-Mobile was the fastest and most consistent US carrier last quarter, Ookla, the company behind the mobile carrier evaluation app Speedtest, reports. They checked the app’s reports and it turned out that T-Mobile outperformed the other two big ones, in both 4G and 5G download speeds.
Oookla also revealed which phone managed the fastest download speeds, plus it was the fastest iPhone when it came to the bits and bytes being broadcast to their cellular modem by a carrier.

The fastest airline in America

Big Magenta posted average download speeds of 117.83 Mbps, which is a fairly large increase from its fourth quarter result when it was the fastest again. Verizon took second place this time, with a score of 62.62 Mbps, mirroring its C-Band switch, while AT&T scored 56.1 Mbps. Here are the key benchmark results of Speedtest Intelligence for US carriers in the first quarter:

  • Verizon was the fastest fixed broadband service provider in the US during the first quarter of 2022, beating XFINITY with an average download speed of 184.36Mbps to XFINITY’s 179.12Mbps.
  • T-Mobile was ranked as the fastest and most stable mobile operator in the US during the first quarter of 2022, achieving an average download speed of 117.83 Mbps and a consistency score of 88.3% – both rising during the fourth quarter of 2021.
  • Looking at tests performed on 5G only, T-Mobile achieved the fastest average 5G download speed at 191.12 Mbps during the first quarter of 2022. Verizon also saw a significant increase in 5G download speed during the first quarter of 2022 compared to By the fourth quarter of 2021, which was helped by the new C run. – Spectrum range in January.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was the fastest popular device in the US at 116.33Mbps during the first quarter of 2022.

Needless to say, the Speedtest Intelligence report is based on “Millions of consumer-initiated tests are performed daily with Speedtest“So it tends to be somewhat downtown and densely populated areas where T-Mobile has denser coverage, on average, than rural areas covered by Verizon or AT&T.

However, T-Mobile showed a commendable increase in performance, nearly doubling the 62.35 Mbps it recorded in the third quarter of 2021, and its faster and more complex deployment of 5G has played a major role in the current situation. The strength of T-Mobile’s network was demonstrated by the highest consistency it was able to score in the study as well, maintaining download speeds of at least 5Mbps in 88% of cases, more than Verizon or AT&T.

The phone with the fastest download speeds belongs to Samsung

Samsung has three of the top five phones with the fastest download speeds, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 occupy the first and second positions with average download speeds of 116.33Mbps and 100.83Mbps respectively.

The fastest download speeds ever recorded by an Apple iPhone carry over to the flagship iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro models, while Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S21 Ultra 2021 ranks in the top five in this category.

Those are interpretable numbers, since the S22 Ultra has Qualcomm’s latest X65 5G modem, it can take full advantage of the carrier aggregation options offered to it. In fact, T-Mobile recently boasted about the improvements that phones with this modem can have on its network:

  • T-Mobile will be able to take advantage of the Qualcomm X65’s triple-carrier 5G aggregation in several different ways. The carrier has more than 100MHz of mid-band 5G spectrum in a lot of places, and in those places, it needs 3xCA to do two 100MHz mid-range channels plus a lower-band channel for better uplink/band. There are also some cities (such as New York) where the average band allocation is split in half and can be used like two separate bands. So the X65 phones (like the Galaxy S22) should bring significant performance improvements over T-Mobile’s mid-range.
  • 3.45 to 3.55 GHz, which is in the middle of the auction, should clear in some places by the end of 2022. This means that AT&T, and anyone else buying that spectrum, will likely see a significant boost in C-band performance specifically when used with hardware The X65 modem next year, on top of the initial C-band launches.

The fastest 5G network speeds

When it comes to 5G, nothing beats T-Mobile again. Un-carrier managed 191 Mbps with an average download speed over its 5G network, second Verizon delivered 107 Mbps, and AT&T took third place with 68 Mbps. T-Mobile also showed the highest 65% of 5G network availability, indicating that the layered and mid-range cake strategy it scored from the merger with Sprint, were the right moves at the time.

With the rollout of C-Band spectrum that Verizon and AT&T buy together, the ranking of 5G networks in the US may change, but for now, it’s clear that T-Mobile has a role in building the coverage and band mix of the next-generation network.
