Nomad Gear for Apple iPhone 12.9 Pro: Stylish, Premium Quality Leather Cases & Power Accessories

A month ago, I bought an Apple iPad Pro 12.9 used and was very happy with its performance and functionality. Soon after it arrived, the great folks at Nomad sent me a few pieces of gear to try out with my iPad. Nomad is one of my favorite brands of mobile accessories, and I’ve come off the field with these accessories for Apple’s biggest iPad.

We tested two leather cases, a USB-C cable, and an A/C adapter, all of which improve the overall iPad experience. Nomad also offers a screen protector for the iPad Pro 12.9, as well as Apple AirTag holders and several other pieces of charging equipment for Apple devices.

modern leather folio

The Modern Leather Folio is clearly my favorite iPad Pro case so far with leather covered panels on the front and back giving the iPad a very professional look and feel. Over time, the leather material will become a patina and character development.

The bezels protect the iPad from impact with TPE that also surrounds the rear camera assembly. There are slots for the USB-C port and loudspeakers with raised buttons for the power and volume buttons. There is a slot along the right edge for you to attach the Apple Pencil.

The inside of the case is lined with microfiber material so your iPad remains scratch-free. You can pick up the bag in Rustic Brown or Black for $169.95. I tried the Rustic Brown and look forward to seeing it develop its personality over time.

The front of the case has two full-length hinged sections that fold in thirds so the iPad can be propped up at the perfect angle for viewing media content or making video calls. There are 81 magnets positioned in the folded cap to ensure a tight fit. Magnets also support Apple’s smart wake and sleep functions.

Nomad’s Modern Leather Case is very similar to a leather case, except that it does not have a flip-up front cover. It’s also available in black and rustic brown for $119.95.

Unlike smaller phone cases, Horween leather is not used in these iPad cases. Nomad worked with the tannery to create a luxurious, eco-conscious leather material that matures with age, just like iPad owners.

This is a very nice case that adds very little weight or bulk to your iPad, but provides strong back and edge protection for your iPad. It looks great in the office and prevents your iPad from sliding off tables, too.

Kevlar USB-C cable

As a mobile technology enthusiast, I end up with a lot of cables and it’s pretty clear that not all cables are the same. Many of my cables broke and I was looking for a good cable that could withstand regular use and travel. Nomad’s 3 Meter USB-C to USB-C Kevlar Cable is great and I highly recommend it to people looking for a cable that is built to last.

The Kevlar USB-C to USB-C model is available in 1.5m or 3.0m lengths with 3.0m cable at $49.95. Personally, I love the three-meter long cable that allows me to charge the iPad Pro from across the room or while sitting at the end of the sofa. The cable supports 100W of power so it can be used to charge your iPad, MacBook Pro, Samsung Tablet, or other USB-C compatible devices.

Kevlar fibers are braided inside and out to help keep the cable intact and protect it from damage. Metal connectors are found at the ends and Nomad offers a five-year warranty with the cable, so you can be confident that it will likely outlast your device.

Most of my cables have failed at the ends, but Nomad states that the company designed the strain relief support system to withstand years of use. Nomad branded silicone cable tie for cable management is also provided. The cable is designed for high-power charging, not for high-speed data transfer but supports USB 2.0 transfer speeds if you want to use it for occasional transfers.

30W power adapter

Another excellent accessory to consider, particularly as a companion to the Kevlar USB-C Cable is the Nomad 30W Power Adapter. It is slightly larger than the Apple 5W Adapter and much smaller than the Apple 20W Adapter with a more professional and elegant design. It’s such a small adapter that it’s become the new travel adapter.

The 30W power adapter provides enough power to quickly charge your iPad, iPhone, or other connected device. It measures just 31 x 33 x 33mm and weighs just a few ounces. The forks don’t recoil, but it’s still a small, lightweight package. It’s $29.95 and I highly recommend it for your shipping needs.
