What to expect with the upcoming Apple event

Apple’s next iPhone SE may arrive on March 8

Apple sent out invitations to the media for an event on March 8 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). A report from iMore indicates that stock levels for the previous iPhone SE model had dwindled at some Apple stores ahead of the event. iMore has also spotted an online listing of a new iPhone SE case with a March 10 release date, which may support rumors that the SE 3 may be launched on or near the day of an Apple event.

In his PowerOn newsletter on February 27, Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman said that Apple is expected to introduce a 5G iPhone SE at such an event. This is in line with a research note from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicted that a third-generation iPhone SE release would likely appear in the first half of 2022.

Kuo’s rumored timeline was later echoed by a report from DigiTimes, which speculated that a new 5G iPhone SE could be on its way with an update. A14 Bionic chip. Meanwhile, TrendForce has already narrowed the iPhone SE 3’s reach to the first quarter of this year.

According to a February report from 91mobiles, Apple imported three versions of iPhone SE under model numbers A2595, A2783 and A2784 to India for testing. This may indicate that the launch of the phone is imminent. The report also states that the imported iPhone SE model has a price tag in India of 23,000 rupees – about $305 on conversion.

However, in January, display analyst Ross Young suggested the possible arrival of the new affordable iPhone Late April or early May. Although many rumors point to a spring release date for the third generation iPhone SE, small I previously expected that iPhone SE Plus may debut in 2022 Instead of the iPhone SE 3. Apple’s iPhone SE 3 may not appear until 2024, according to Young.

Face ID could come to iPhone SE 3

There may be a new way to unlock your iPhone SE if this rumor comes true: Face ID. All of Apple’s current iPhones already feature Face ID except for the 2020 iPhone SE reboot. Adding the ability to unlock your iPhone SE 3 with facial recognition would be a coup for fans of the mid-range Apple phone (especially since iOS 14.5 added an option to use Face ID while wearing a mask).

According to another PowerOn newsletter from Gurman, Apple plans to bring the face scanner to all related products — not just iPhone SE 3but also all iPads and Macs.

Your iPhone SE 3 won’t get smaller or bigger

In a world of growing super smartphones, the iPhone SE has earned the title of bestseller thanks in part to its compact size as well as its powerful combination of price and features. The first generation iPhone SE came in a small 4-inch frame and was praised by CNET’s Scott Stein for being “amazingly pocket-friendly” among other things. Apple’s second-generation iPhone SE wasn’t too small, but it made it hard. (Apple supplied it to the leading level A13 Bionic chipthe same chip that powers each of the four members of the iPhone 12 family.)

With the upcoming iPhone SE 3, it looks like Apple won’t change the size, according to Kuo. Like the 2020 iPhone SE, the next generation version will have a 4.7-inch screen. Apple may release a plus-size iPhone SE however, for those who want an iPhone on a bigger budget. More on that later. Remember, the iPhone SE has two main audiences: budget-conscious buyers who don’t care about paying $799 for the price tag. iPhone 13 (much less than $999 for a Pro or $1,099 for a Pro Max) and Those who prefer compact phones.

iPhone SE 3 Retro Design

Although there have been rumors of Apple giving the iPhone SE 3 a major makeover, a report by Kuo has apparently thrown cold water in. In the report, seen by MacRumors, Kuo says the third-generation iPhone SE will be similar to current SE models, which could indicate that the legacy design is here to stay. This means we’ll get the iPhone SE’s signature chunky bezels on the top and bottom, as well as a physical Home button, possibly with Touch ID, for a more tactile user experience. (The latter details could conflict with the FaceID rumor, as Apple has never included both FaceID and the Home button on the same phone.) Like the 2016 release, the upcoming iPhone SE is said to feature a single camera on the back of the phone. .

However, the iPhone SE 3 could still get a design change. According to a rumor from the Chinese MyDrivers website, published by Forbes magazine, Apple’s upcoming iPhone at a reasonable price will use the iPhone XR chassis instead of the iPhone 8.

iPhone SE 3 tends to get an LCD screen, 5G

Rumors suggest that Apple is sticking with an LCD screen for the third generation SE, rather than upgrading to an OLED screen. OLEDs are typically more vibrant than their LCD counterparts, with richer contrast and more inky blacks. I would like to see Apple working on OLED technology for the SE 3 considering similarly priced phones like OnePlus North And the Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10 Pro Clear OLED panels oscillate. But a report by Kuo said the iPhone SE 3 won’t bring many major changes, just incremental upgrades for things like 5G support and processor.

Will there be an iPhone SE Plus?

Short answer: Yes, there should be. Kuo has been talking about a bigger iPhone SE for some time now, first anticipating a release in late 2021 before tying the launch to the first half of 2022, which will likely align with Apple’s usual spring launch of the iPhone SE. Tech YouTuber Jon Prosser posted on Twitter about the existence of a plus-sized iPhone SE in April 2020.

As mentioned above, Young speculates that the iPhone SE Plus may come in 2022. The rumored iPhone is said to support 5G and a 4.7-inch LCD screen like the current version of the iPhone SE.
