AST SpaceMobile announces multiple launch agreement with SpaceX for planned cell phone direct connection

Midland, Texas – (work wire) – Today, AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (“AST SpaceMobile”) (NASDAQ:ASTS), the company that builds the first space-based broadband cellular network and the only one directly accessible by standard mobile phones, has signed a multiple launch agreement with Space Exploration Technologies Corp (“SpaceX”). ). In addition to the planned summer launch of the BlueWalker 3 (BW3) test satellite, the agreement covers the launch of the first BlueBird satellite and provides a framework for future launches.

“This agreement ensures the reliable availability of the reliable launch of our first production satellites outside the United States,” said Abel Avelan, AST SpaceMobile Founder, Chairman and CEO. “Our summer launch of BlueWalker 3 will complete the development phase for our company. We have also manufactured our technology and are preparing to launch BlueBird satellites, with this agreement as a major step.”

The BW3 satellite is scheduled to be launched from Cape Canaveral aboard the Falcon 9 spacecraft. The satellite has an aperture of 693 square feet and is designed to communicate directly with mobile phones over 3GPP standard frequencies.

The BlueBird satellites are designed to be compatible with the Falcon 9, as well as existing and planned industrial launch vehicles. These production satellites are designed to provide commercial broadband service directly to mobile phones, without any additional hardware or software on the phone. At full capacity, AST SpaceMobile expects to be able to assemble up to six Bluebird satellites per month at its manufacturing facility in Texas, which offers a total of 185,000 square feet.

AST SpaceMobile’s mission is to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers moving into and out of coverage areas, and deliver cellular broadband to the nearly half of the world’s population that remains unconnected. Partners in this effort are the leading global wireless infrastructure companies, including Rakuten Mobile, Vodafone and American Tower.
