Best gaming PC deals: Best Buy and Newegg have reasonably priced prebuilt desktops

Even if you can find an independent Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics card in stock, you are likely to find a high price that will blow your mind. A better route might be a pre-built PC. You can find some reasonably priced out-of-the-box gaming desktops right now with the latest GPUs from Nvidia. You can even find some discounts, which is rare for anything related to Nvidia’s RTX GPUs.

Best Buy and Newegg carry inventory of RTX 30 series gaming desktops from vendors including ABS, HP, Lenovo, and MSI. After taking a look at the PCs each site has in stock, here are the best deals I’ve found: from relatively inexpensive desktops with RTX 3060 graphics to a fully loaded beast with an RTX 3090 GPU.

At its current $100 discount, this is the lowest cost gaming PC I can find right now that has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series GPU. While this ABC system is a great entry into RTX 30 series graphics, I’d recommend spending a bit more if your budget allows and getting the Lenovo system below, which features AMD’s superior Ryzen 7 CPU along with graphics. This HP Omen is yet another gaming system powered by an AMD-Nvidia combo, in this case the Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics. It also packs 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 750-watt power supply inside a liquid-cooled tower.


Sensing a pattern? The best combination for gamers right now is an AMD octa-core CPU and GeForce RTX 30-series graphics. This HP Omen system is a slightly more powerful version of the previous model with RTX 3070 graphics and more capacity for future upgrades. with a 800 watt power supply.


This is one of the first PCs with a CPU from Intel’s new 12th generation Core chips. It features the Core i7-12700KF processor and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics along with 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 700-watt power supply. It’s currently $200 off at Newegg.


This MSI PC combines an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU with GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. You also get 16GB of RAM and a roomy 1TB SSD. The 750-watt power supply offers plenty of overhead for future upgrades.


This ABS model combines an 11th Gen octa-core Core i9 CPU with GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics while adding 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an 850-watt power supply. Those components would typically cost upwards of $4,000, but you can get them in this ABS package for a more reasonable $3,400. That price reflects a $500 discount.


Ready to blow it up? When you consider that many gaming PCs with the latest Nvidia GPUs cost $5,000 or more, this HP Omen seems reasonable at $4,000.
